There are 2 ways to create your new account, the first option you can click "Create Account" hyperlink at the bottom of the login form where it will redirect you to sign up page and ready to sign up by filling the form with the following details: Name, Email, Password, Confirm Password and Captcha. And the second option is create an account via Facebook Login. If you are looking for quick and easy gateway, the second option is the way to go.

Step 3: Congfigure basic settings your Messenger Via Bot Settings

Let's start exploring the Messenger Bot section by clicking the "Messenger Bot" tab in the main menu. Inside the Messenger Bot section, there are a number of selection features are available to play around with. However, for this guide, we are going to build a simple Messenger bot settings and configurations.

Let's click on "Bot Settings" tab, inside the Bot Settings you can see there are 3 columns on this section, the first column shows your Facebook page(s) had been enabled and connected into the bot connection list. The second column shows the Messenger Bot settings that you can configure to your selected Facebook Page.

From this column, there are the following configuration that available which is "Bot Reply Settings", "Get Started Settings", "General Settings", "Action Button Settings", and "Persistent Menu Settings". Let's briefly walk through the functionality one by one:

  • Keyword Auto Reply & Bot Reply: Setup a reply bot based on the keywords that had been inserted. For example, create a bot named "Hello Bot" and providing the keywords such as "Hi", "Hello" & "Howdy" with comma-separated (exclude " " during inserting the keywords) and lastly providing the reply message such as "Hi, #LEAD_USER_FIRST_NAME# how can I help you?" For #LEAD_USER_FIRST_NAME# is the personalized message to address the recipient's name.
  • Get Started Settings: For Get Started Settings, you can either enabled or disabled the "Get Started" Button before initiating the conversation. You can insert the welcome message to show some sense of sincerity to your audience before start the conversation in the messenger. And for an Ice breaker, you can either enabled or disabled to configure the quick questions that the audience frequently asked, so that it will redirect straight to the responses that they are requested.
  • General Settings: The general settings are not necessary just the optional options including enabled or disabled for "Mark as seen" status and providing human email if the audience would like to contact directly with human interaction.
  • Action Button Settings: You can create an instant or built-in templates quick reply such as phone quick reply template, email quick reply template, unsubscribe quick reply template, birthday quick reply template, location quick reply template and chat with human quick reply template.
  • Persistent Menu Settings: You are able to the configure persistent menu directly to the message box. It also acts as a quick way to redirect your audience to the important conversation block or call to action. You can add the post-back of the conversation block. Additionally, you can add external destinations as a persistent menu such as your website by inserting the web URL.

After you had done configured all of these Messenger Bot of Bot Settings, your first messenger chatbot is ready to go! However, you can set up your chatbot is more advanced and more functionality to impress your audience.

Step 4: Build your Messenger Bot using Classic Bot Editor

To build your Messenger Bot via our classic bot editor, there are two ways you can build from:

  1. Via Keyword Auto Reply (Messenger Bot -> Bot Settings -> Bot Reply)
  2. Via Post-back Manager (Messenger Bot -> Post-back Manager -> Classic Editor)

In the Step 3 above, you had done created your first greeting bot via Keyword Auto Reply, you can create multiple bot reply that based on keyword triggers which able to configure via Keyword Auto Reply in Bot Settings.

However, if you want to create more chatbot templates for continuous automated conversation rather than triggered the keywords initiate and active your first greeting chatbot, you can use the second ways called Post-back Manager to simply create the chatbot in various formats of the chatbot templates.

Both of these two methods providing the same interface and using the same Classic Bot Editor format, but the only different is Post-back Manager is only focusing on building the bot templates without any other configuration or settings appear on it and there's no keywords trigger function in Post-back manager which only available in Bot Settings via Classic Bot Editor.

After you understand the methods to use to build your Messenger bot via Classic Bot Editor, now let us demonstrate to you on how to build the second chatbot template by simply named as "Menu Bot" via Post-back Manager.

First go to Messenger Bot -> Post-back Manager, you will landing the Post-back Manager, from there you can see the table that listing the bot templates had been created. Since you had created your first greeting bot from Bot Settings via Keyword Auto Reply, your greeting bot had been shown in the lists as well identified as the bot name had been set.

To create a new bot template, you just need to click the "Classic Editor" button to get started via Classic Bot Editor. Once landed to the page, there's several similar elements that need to configure before complete and submit the bot template show at below:

  1. Template Name : Name of your bot creation template.
  2. Choose A Page: Select the Facebook page that want to enable and create the bot for.
  3. Reply section: This section is the important part to create and configure your bot template contents. There are sub-elements that need to configure:
  • Select Reply Type: Select the reply types available such as Text, Image, Video, Audio, Quick Reply, Carousel, Text With Buttons, Generic Template, etc.
  • Delay Mode: Configure the delay of time between previous message and the incoming reply message.
  • Reply Message: The content of message that need to respond or deliver.

After understand these elements from Classic Bot Editor, it's time to create the "Menu Bot" that we wanted to create as an example of this guidelines. Thus, to create the "Menu Bot", just name the template as "Menu Bot", after that select your preferred Facebook page following by select the type of reply. For this example, we selected text as the first reply and carousel as the type of reply for second reply.

For the first reply content, you can configure the reply like this: "Hi, #LEAD_USER_FIRST_NAME# Thank you for interested our menu, kindly take a look our food menu that available shows at below:" After this first reply, we need to create the second reply by clicking "Add More Reply" button, a new tab of reply will be comes out under the first reply tab.

For the second reply content, select carousel as the type of reply and it will comes out the carousel template with the following details that you need to configure on:

  1. Provide Reply Image or Upload Image: Paste the image URL or upload the image as carousel image.
  2. Image Click Destination(Optional): Create a clickable image to lead the users to the destination when they clicked.
  3. Title (Heading): Write down the title of the carousel
  4. Sub-title (Sub-heading): Write down the description of the carousel
  5. Button Text: Name of the button as your call-to-action
  6. Button type: Select the button type that suit the destination where you want to lead the users to.

Hence, for "Menu Bot", you can create the food catalogue or menu by uploading the food categories images, name the food categories, description of the food categories and create the button called "Show More" with the button type as "Post-back" to connect the third bot template that named it as "Western Food Category" bot as show only western food category selection.

Furthermore, you can add more carousel template by clicking "Add More Template" as follow the similar steps as the first carousel template if you have more than one food category. Of course, you can create the new reply after this "Food category menu" carousel type reply created done by just clicking "Add More Reply" button to continue your next bot reply.

Step 2: Drag and Drop The Elements Into The Visual Flow Editor

To build the starting point of the bot flow, following the simple instructions to build a simple FB Messenger chatbot with only picking several elements that enough to cover in this tutorial:

  1. Select and drag a "Trigger" element in the editor and connect the trigger to the trigger socket of the "Start Bot Flow" element by dragging the arrow from the trigger dot connector.   • Previous Block Connector: Is a connector where is the connection before the current element block. Therefore, at this starting point, the previous block connector is the connection between "Start Bot Flow" (Previous Block) and Generic Element block (Next Block).
  • Next Block Connector: Is a connector where is the connection after the current element block except button and quick reply element which they both have separated connectors with each other.
  • Button Connector: is a connector that only connects to the button element as an action
  • Quick Reply Connector: is a connector that only connects to the quick reply element as an action. For more details on the difference between "button" and "quick reply", you can check out this article.

3. Lastly, repeat the same instruction from Step 1 and 2 to complete building your Facebook Messenger Chatbot automation. Of course, you can build your bot flow as complex as you can with no limits!

Step 3: Saved, run and edit your bot flow in anytime

Finally, you can run your configured bot flow flawless after you saved it to live your bot on board. You can review and edit your bot anytime you want without any complicated procedure, just need to take note that everytime when you had edited your bot flow through your existing and new bot flow in Visual Flow Builder, you need to save it by clicking "Save" icon button on the most top of the editor screen, if not your bot will not save or change or start from scratch again.
